Capture tools

Capture from anywhere. Record it once.

The browser extension records what happens in a tab. The desktop app records everything else — an ERP client, a terminal, a design tool, a flow that spans four windows. Both feed the same workspace, and the same self-verifying SOP, video and course come out the other side.

macOS and Windows installers · pairs with the browser session you are already signed in to.

Capture anywhere

One workspace, every app

Watch what it does. The desktop app lives in the menu bar and sees the whole machine, whichever application you are documenting.

  • Records any desktop app — an ERP client, a terminal, a design tool, a flow across four windows.
  • Reads the focused control from macOS Accessibility and Windows UI Automation, so steps name the field they touched.
  • Screen recorder with a webcam bubble, background effects and a blur tool for anything that shouldn't ship.
  • An upload queue that survives a crash or a dead Wi-Fi spell and finishes the job when you're back.

Runs in the menu bar or tray. No Dock icon, no window in your way.

Installing

Three steps, start to finish

It's running in under two minutes, and it never asks your team for a new set of credentials.

Desktop app

macOS & Windows

  1. 1

    Run the installer

Open the .dmg and drag SmartDox across, or run the .exe. It lands in the menu bar or tray, not the Dock.

  2. 2

    Pair with your browser

Pick “Pair with browser…”. It opens the workspace you're already signed in to and hands the app a scoped key — no second password.

  3. 3

    Grant capture permissions

On macOS, allow Accessibility and Screen Recording the first time you capture. Windows needs neither.

Capture is explicit

Nothing records ambiently. A capture starts when you press start and stops when you say so.

Secrets stay masked

Typed input is accumulated per field and secret fields are masked before a step ever leaves the machine.

Scoped, revocable access

The desktop app holds a workspace key in the system keychain — Keychain on macOS, DPAPI on Windows — that you can revoke without touching anyone's password.

The full picture lives on our security page, and how we handle your data is set out in the privacy policy.

Before you install

The questions IT always asks

No. It pairs with the browser you're already signed in to: the tray opens the workspace, you approve once, and the app receives a scoped workspace key stored in the OS keychain. There is no separate password, and revoking the key doesn't disturb anyone's account.

Request a demo

See your first self-verifying SOP this week.

Bring one procedure. Leave with the SOP, the video, the course, and a scheduled check that tells you when it stops being true.

  • One real procedure of yours, captured in minutes
  • The SOP, the narrated video, and the training course, generated for you
  • A scheduled check that re-runs it against your live systems
  • The sealed revision and audit trail, published on the call
